Dream World (Saints Game Poem 2007)
Baseball game, evening
minor league
early summer
should be so perfect
it is
except
how
this pure fantasy of fun innocence
has been corrupted by our government
the good America it once represented
all us little people, under the radar
protected by our littleness
have been betrayed
by our governments embrace of evil
and now our innocent world fantasy
is a dangerous distraction
and we are dupes
no longer innocent citizens
our very innocence
has betrayed us
this sweet insulated dream
has lulled us into letting
those big people above
rob our country of
its purity, and its illusions of purity
and the grass is so green
and this breeze is so comforting
and the antics are so funny
